Thaana font support for iPhone / iPad

Mohamed Afzal or apo, started a repo named m0bi.com/cydia earlier this May with just 2 font packages but his latest update includes 38 font support for iPhones and iPads. It also includes support for Thaana characters in local mail app. Very cool

Meemu Atoll 2 day fishing trip

Installed fibre to microduct routes at Fullmoon

Today, Asoa, Appath, Asad and I went to Fullmoon to blow the fibre into microduct routes we laid earlier last week. Unlike the conventional type of fibre cables, Emtelle blown fibre provide a passive infrastructure system based on small, light-weight, extremely robust microducts, and comprise the world’s most complete and advanced blown product range: fibres, microducts, bundles, subducts, main ducts and all related equipment and accessories. How Does fibreflow Work?

The working principles of fibreflow are simple and well developed. The blowing theory is based on airflow acting as a carrier in the microduct. The air flows over the fibre at high speed and thus imparts no tension or stress on the fibre.

The air supply is dried to the correct level and supplied down a plug-in hose.

Fibre unit is deployed stress-free from a pan, permitting access to both ends of the fibre.

The blowing head is very small and reliable, and easy to set up. It drives the fibre forward and measures speed, while also feeding in the air supply.

Air-blown routes are quickly created using push-in connectors for links and branches: This eliminates fibre splices wherever cables meet. A fibre can be blown through such a route in minutes. We were able to blow 339meters in less than 15 minutes on one of the paths.

At the far end, the air is back to normal pressure, very safe, and the fibre emerges stress-free, gel-free, ready for connection in minutes.

There are range extending methods which mean that 5km or 6km of fibre can be blown in a single unbroken length, minimising splices and optical losses.

It is easy to plan a blow route, once it is decided what microduct size and fibre count are to be used. Manholes or access points can easily be planned for the whole access network.

The modular system means that to add a new fibre to an existing route is much simpler and cheaper than with traditional optical networks, with typically no need to re-dig the main street.

Almost at the end. It seem slow because it depends on the radius of the bends in the microduct routes.

MCallShow Maldives Database(Atolls)

This is a post related to my earlier post this June, How to get Dhiraagu edirectory onto iPhone which adds the functionality to show Dhiraagu’s caller details using edirectory database as of 12 April 2009.

MCallShow Maldives Database is the substitute database which I have send to MCleaner team to be officially included in their repository. Please take note that this is not a directory, It just shows you the location of the caller via the local land line number they are calling.

I know almost no one would want this when they already have Dhiraagu e-directory installed. But I just thought I should share this one too.

Install Dhivehi font to iphone / ipod touch

Installing dhivehi fonts on iPhone was a discouraging issue when I was trying to install it with instructions from gaurav’s blog due to the fact that iPhone doesn’t fully support unicode characters at that time. It was iPhone FW2.0 then.

BUT now that iPhone’s 3.0 was out, MrMaldivian (http://mrmaldivian.wordpress.com) has tried and published a tutorial on how to install and view dhivehi websites on iPhone. Just to add to the info, you can also use iphonebrowser to copy the files rather than using wifi.

Was at #TwitHefun(not twit-the-fun) last Thursday. We gathered at Olympus to mark the start of the Holy month of Ramazan. It is a good innitiative to organize such a event as it helps to meet the real person behind the keyboard. Met some of the characters who’ve been around my circle of internet friends for many years, like moyameeha who’s been advocating since 2006 to free the crocodile in Kudakudhinge Bageechaa.
